Girls in the Outdoors is a five-day adventure day-camp designed to empower girls through outdoor experiences and leadership opportunities. Participants will experience hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, and backpacking. Learn aspects of safety, outdoor ethics, excursion preparation, and the basic skills needed to participate in outdoor activities while in a fun and safe environment. Gain not only outdoor skills, but also confidence, strength, and courage.

Participants will:

  • Mountain Bike on the Creeper Trail
  • Kayak on Lake Witten
  • Hike to the Great Channels of Virginia
  • Backpack across Mt. Rogers
  • Learn how to use a camp stove to cook dinner in the back country
  • Discuss the principles and applications of Leave No Trace
  • Explore career opportunities in the field of Outdoor Recreation
