This course provides the student with the skills they need to be successful working in conservation, environmental management, trail systems, adventure camp, national, state or local parks, state forestry, division of natural resources or other recreational and\/or ecology venues. Course work will include fundamental knowledge of fish, wildlife, ecology and forest management, forest mapping, adventure excursion planning, Leave No Trace best practices, etc. The project-based curriculum will involve extensive outings, field trips, and research projects to further prepare the student for work in one of the aforementioned career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Natural Resource Destinations in Southwest Virginia<\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/sw.edu\/ator\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/AC_Lake_Witten-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sw.edu\/ator\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/05\/AC_Lake_Witten-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sw.edu\/ator\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/05\/AC_Lake_Witten.jpg 267w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Lake Witten, located in Tazewell, Virginia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located in Tazewell County, Lake Witten spans across 52 acres. While the lake is owned and operated by Tazewell County, it was constructed by the U.S. Natural Resource Conservation Service.
