Information Technology and Cybersecurity Fundamentals Career Studies Certificate prepares students for introductory IT knowledge and skills and to recognize, prevent, and defend against threats to information and information systems.
In order for students to be well prepared and successful in all areas of IT including key areas of Information Technology and Cybersecurity, students need to be introduced into the basic topics of operating systems, computer hardware, networking concepts, programming, and network security basics and cybersecurity core topics.
The goal is to create entry-level employment opportunities in the Information Technology and Cybersecurity fields.
The Cybersecurity CSC is designed to provide students with the technical and problem solving expertise needed to actively protect assets connected to a network. Students will gain the knowledge and training to implement defense, recognize unauthorized access, and take action to minimize threats to their network & computing environment.
Southwest has earned the distinction of being a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber-Defense Education, endorsed by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Students receive an additional certificate when graduating for completing the cybersecurity program through a designated institution.
