{"id":1489,"date":"2023-04-24T11:38:10","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T15:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sw.edu\/news\/?p=1489"},"modified":"2023-04-24T11:38:10","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T15:38:10","slug":"singlestop-registration-drive-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sw.edu\/news\/2023\/04\/24\/singlestop-registration-drive-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"SingleStop\u2122 Registration Drive Continues"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) continues its SingleStop\u2122 registration drive through the end of April.\u00a0 The program helps students at the college access public benefits and community resources through a unique one-stop-shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drive this month also highlights free tele-mental-health care services available for students via the online platform TimelyCare. This mind and body support initiative will serve as a catalyst for increasing food security for students in need, while also creating an opportunity to increase awareness about mental health supports that are available to students.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding to make the registration drive more successful came from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Funds were gifted to the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education and distributed locally to the Southwest Virginia Community College Educational Foundation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funds are being used to market and promote the registration drive to students, to purchase incentives for student participation to include grocery gift cards and non-perishable food items packaged as a care package for them to take home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The pandemic has highlighted the need for these types of support services, and we are grateful for the support of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in helping us address this need,\u201d said Dyan Lester, Dean of Student Success at Southwest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SingleStop\u2122 registration drive is designed to help students receive support and resources they may not know are available to them, such as financial resources and public benefits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tele-mental-health care services via TimelyCare will provide students with access to licensed professionals for mental health support, available 24\/7.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Southwest recognizes the importance of mental and physical health, especially following the pandemic.
