Over 200 volunteers participated, offering a valuable learning experience and an opportunity to impact food insecurity in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Day of Service - Spring 2024\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P3kti_kRR-c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bulk food materials will be sorted, weighed, packaged, and boxed. Local food pantries serving residents in the college\u2019s four-county service area will be given free packaged meals to distribute. The Day of Service offers our students a chance to give back and enrich their educational experience while they are students with us here at Southwest,\u201d said Dr. Tommy Wright, President of Southwest. \u201cThis is more than just a day of volunteering; It is a chance for us to unite for a cause that reaches beyond our campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since becoming President at Southwest in 2018, Wright has inspired the campus community to engage in service events.
