The Southwest Virginia Community College Scholarship Golf Classic was played on September 26th at Tazewell County Country Club. The tournament was played in celebration of the life of David Peters. Proceeds from the tournament will establish the David Peters Golf Scholarship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tournament Sponsors are Clinch Valley Medical Center, First Bank and Trust, Bob and Geraldine Hamblen Family, Charles R. King, Richlands Pharmacy Associates, Ginger Robertson, Street Law Firm, TruPoint Bank and WVVA. Hole Sponsors are CGI, First Community Bank, First Sentinel Bank, Huffman Insurance Agency, Hurst-Scott Funeral Homes, Kwik Kafe, Lindsey and Associates, David Mullins Wealth Management, J. A. Street and Associates and TrustPoint Insurance\/Marco and Virginia Warner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners of the Championship Flight are: Dan Harris and Garland Green. Runners-up in the Championship Flight are Larry Mullins and James Moore. Winners of the First Flight are Martin Payton and Jonathan McCormick. Runners-up in the First Flight are Tony Frederick and Larry Odum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners of the Second Flight are: Stephen Gilbert and Brad Beverly. Runners-up in the Second Flight are Randall Hillman and Sherman Wallace. Winners of the Third Flight are Matt Adams and Steve Harry. Runners-up in the Third Flight are Larry Worrell and John Willis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners of the Fourth Flight are Kenny Lowe and Brian Robinette. Runners-up in the Third Flight are Mike Hendrickson and Benjamin Hendrickson. Winners of the Fifth Flight are Justin Smith and Eddy Brown. Runners-up in the Fifth Flight are Bill Akers and Bob Layne. Winners in the Sixth Flight are Rita Harman and Ellen Shamblin. Runners-up in the Sixth Flight are Dana Coble and Beth Gills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many area businesses donated prizes to be distributed among the golfers and guests. A 2019 Jeep Renegade Sport 4 x 4 was provided by Ramey Automotive for a Hole-In-One which, unfortunately, was not won! Golf balls were provided by Rod Moore and were in memory of Nancy Roberts. The Grand Prize was a helicopter ride courtesy of Swope Construction Co. and a brass clock made by Steve Olinger, Instructor in the Southwest Virginia Community College Machining and CNC Technology program. The reception and dinner were provided by Food City of Claypool Hill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
