Students will receive hands-on training to prepare for entry-level automotive technician positions which could lead to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.&nbsp; The classes will target both male and female students in low- to moderate-income levels and is being sponsored by grants from the Department of Housing and Community Development, ARC, and Perkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next cohorts will begin <strong>August 24 <\/strong>with both a day and an evening cohort offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" style=\"background-color:#a32b2a;border-radius:6px\">Learn More<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The short-term, fast-track program offers an Automotive Diagnostics and Repair Career Studies <strong>Certificate. <\/strong>Students will also have opportunities to earn one or more of the following four SNAP-ON certifications: Automotive Scanner Diagnostics; Electronic and Mechanical Torque; Wheel Service and Alignment; and Rotor Matching Master Technician Certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Department of Labor, a <strong>6% job growth is currently expected in this field and the average annual salary for an automotive technician is nearly $39,000. Individuals who obtain ASE certifications have been known to earn between $75,000\u2013100,000 annually depending on the region in the country in which they work and the job demand.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Southwest Virginia Community College encourages both males and females to check out this program.
