An accelerated Computer Repair Technician CSC is offered through SWCC and the Southwest Regional Adult Education Center.

This certificate program begins March 13 and runs through August 2, 2018.

All classes are held at the SWCC Center for Education and Training in Lebanon VA. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 9pm

You will complete 4 courses, earning 12 college credits and IT Certifications along with Workplace Readiness Certifications.

3-D Printing for Manufacturing and Business Training 

SWCC’s Workforce Solutions will offer 3-D Printing for Manufacturing and Business training on Friday, April 6, 12 – 3pm. The training provides an overview of rapid technologies in Additive Manufacturing that are high productivity tools designed to cut lead times, reduce time to market, increase the quality of the product, and improve collaboration within the organization. The cost of the training is $15. 

Limited seating is available. Early registration is highly recommended.

Entry-Level PC Service Technician Certification class with tuition assistance available

What: Entry level PC Service Technician Class (CompTIA A+)

When: April 3 – May 31. Tuesday and Thursday. 5:30- 9:30 pm.

This class is a non-credit class designed to prepare a student for the CompTIA A+ certification exam. A+ (A Plus) is an entry-level computer certification for PC computer service technicians. The exam is designed to certify the competency of entry-level PC computer service professionals in installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computers.

CLASSES BEGIN MARCH 3RD

Adventure Career Ready is a nine-day, accelerated program taught over a two-week period at Breaks Interstate Park. Participants will learn the skills needed in the tourism and recreation industry, including customer service, hospitality, wilderness first aid, CPR, Leave No Trace and basic outdoor skills. In addition, each student will have the opportunity to earn four nationally recognized credentials in Leave No Trace, Wilderness & Remote First Aid, First Aid/CPR/AED, and the National Retail Federation Customer Service.

The program will run March 3 through March 11, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is offered through a partnership with Breaks Interstate Park. After successful completion of the program, students will be offered guaranteed job interviews with staff from Breaks Interstate Park for open summer positions. Space in the program is limited. Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify.

SWCC Workforce Business Basics Series: Computer Graphics

SWCC Workforce Solutions is offering a new marketing class exploring the differences in Vector and Raster through computer graphics. This course demonstrates how to create vector graphics with Adobe Illustrator and raster graphics with Adobe Photoshop. The objectives for this course include developing graphics in these two formats for print, web, and animation mediums.

Work Zone Flagger Certificationwork zone flagger

This two-day course is designed to train those who will be actively involved in designing or supervising temporary traffic control in Virginia work zones. Students are taught concepts, techniques, and practices in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices specific to the Commonwealth. April 18th & 19th, 2018, 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Grant Funded 8 Hour ServSafe Class

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Southwest Virginia Community College will offer ServSafe training and certification at our SWCC Lebanon Center for Education and Training. This certification is recognized by more federal, state, and local jurisdictions than any other food safety certification. ServSafe certification is crucial in the restaurant industry, daycare settings, and cafeterias. Full tuition funding is available for Virginia residents.
