North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Codes

Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code

A CAGE code is a five-character alpha-numeric identifier assigned to entities located IN the United States and its territories. The DLA CAGE Program Office is the only activity authorized for assignment or update of a CAGE code.

If you are NOT doing business with the U.S. Government but require a CAGE code to be assigned to support any Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirement you may request or update your CAGE code.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization Commercial and Government Entity (NCAGE) Code

An NCAGE is a five-character alpha-numeric identifier assigned to entities located OUTSIDE of the U.S. and its territories. Based on the location of the entity, NSPA will either assign/update or route to the applicable National Codification Bureau for assign/update action.

AFTER you receive your NCAGE, AND you are doing business with the U.S. Government to include contracts and grants, you MUST register in SAM.

Forecast of Contracting Opportunities (FCO)  Tool – GSA Acquisition Gateway

This tool provides a nationwide listing of upcoming federal contracting opportunities. All projected procurements are subject to revision or cancellation. Final decisions on competition, small business participation, estimated value, or any aspect of the procurement are made when a solicitation is posted to SAM.gov. This forecast data is for planning only and is not a commitment to purchase. Direct questions about a planned procurement to the listed point of contact.

Agency Recurring Procurement Forecasts

Agency Recurring Procurement Forecasts are official, typically annual or quarterly, projections of upcoming federal contract opportunities, aimed at helping businesses—particularly small, disadvantaged, women-owned, and service-disabled veteran-owned firms—identify potential contracts early.

SBA Subnet

SBA Subnet (subcontracting network) helps large federal prime contractors find small subcontractors.

SBA Prime Contractors with Subcontracting Plans Directory

This directory lists federal government contractors with requirements to subcontract to small businesses.

GSA OTSB Subcontracting Directory

GSA’s Subcontracting Directory lists GSA’s OTSB (Other Than Small Business) prime contractors who have been awarded contracts requiring small business subcontracting plans and that have submitted subcontracting reports in the past fiscal year.

Federal contracts awarded to OTSBs, over a certain dollar threshold, must contain a small business subcontracting plan. In this plan, which follows the requirements of FAR 52.219-9, the prime contractor sets goals for what it plans to subcontract to small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, women-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. Subcontracting reports are required for contracts with subcontracting plans.

DOT Subcontracting Directory

Large prime contractors receiving Federal contract awards valued over $750,000 ($1.5 million for construction) are required to established plans and goals for subcontracting with small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, and small disadvantaged businesses.  This directory is published as a marketing aid for small businesses, to participate in DOT procurements as subcontractors.

In this directory, you will find listings of major DOT prime contractors with approved subcontracting plans. It identifies the prime contractors’ name and address, company subcontracting liaison representative and telephone numbers and description of the project or items to be subcontracted. Contact should be made with the company’s subcontracting liaison representative who has knowledge of the contractor’s subcontracting plan and goals. This person can advise you on how your firm can join their subcontracting vendor’s team.

USACE Subcontracting Resources

It is part of the mission of the USACE Office of Small Business Programs to not only advocate for small business opportunities at a direct contract level, but also to maximize opportunities for small business subcontracting opportunities.  Subcontracting on USACE contracts can help companies that may be newer to Federal contracting, looking to build experience and past performance with USACE and/or simply prefer to work at an indirect level or provide supplies/services more appropriate to a subcontract.   This page will provide you with many recommendations to increase visibility of USACE subcontracting.
