Educational Foundation

Welcome!

Founded in 1981, the Southwest Virginia Community College Educational Foundation supports the college’s mission by providing financial assistance and opportunities to students, faculty, and staff. Governed by a board of community leaders, the non-profit has grown significantly since its inception and is enabled to offer numerous scholarships to students from Buchanan, Dickenson (partial), Russell, and Tazewell Counties.

The Foundation has funded various initiatives, including:

  • The $7.5 million Charles R. King Community Center
  • Student Housing
  • Faculty and staff professional development
  • Student Scholarships
  • Instructional equipment
  • Travel for Honors College students
  • Cultural programming
  • The “Time to Remember” campus bell tower
  • Endowed faculty chairs
  • Special events for students and the community

The Foundation’s work is supported through tax-deductible donations, such as cash, securities, bequests, trusts, equipment, and services from individuals, families, foundations, and organizations.
