A key part of the program is practicing what you learn. You’ll apply Leave No Trace principles, demonstrate safety and preparation skills, and complete a comprehensive adventure recreation trip as a capstone experience.

Program Details

This is a Career Studies Certificate with a minimum of 9 credits, typically completed in one year across three semesters. Coursework includes land use ethics, wilderness first aid, outdoor recreation in the Appalachian ecosystem, and a seminar and project course.
Elective trip options may include recreational backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, or rock climbing, with course selection guided by your advisor.
