HLTH 1046 The focus of this class is learning the rules for the ICD-10-CM coding systems and applying the rules to code patient services and to provide hands-on basic ICD-10-CM coding for physicians and outpatient services. The course covers the medical terminology and body systems needed to code and the professional conduct within the framework of ethics, HIPAA, and customer care.
HLTH 1047The focus of this course is to present the rules for the CPT and Level II HCPCS coding systems and apply them to patient services. Students are trained on the association between ICD-10-CM codes and CPT/HCPCS codes in the reimbursement process and the body systems referred to by the codes. The importance of customer care, privacy, and ethics are reinforced by the use of real-world scenarios.
