The Academic Advisors at Southwest are experts in working with students to select classes for specific academic or career goals. We highly recommend meeting with an academic advisor, especially for new or returning students.

Registering for classes (also referred to as enrolling) is done in MySouthwest. MySouthwest is the portal for academics, financials, and most other student information systems. Look for the MySouthwest button at the top of this page. Learn more about MySouthwest: https://sw.edu/students/mysouthwest/

The Enrollment Guide linked below will take you step-by-step through the process of enrolling in one or more classes.

Enrollment Considerations

You can enroll for classes at any time through MySouthwest. However, please be aware of the following:

  • All new students are required to meet with an academic adviser before registering. You may schedule an advising session using the Navigate system in MySouthwest or using the Navigate mobile app.
  • Students are required to take a Student Development class within their first 15 credits.
  • You have a lifetime limit on the number of college credits that can be paid for using Federal Financial Aid. If you are unsure about whether or not a class is beneficial for your degree goals, ASK YOUR ADVISOR.

Error Messages

If you receive an error message during add/drop activity, please note the numeric error number provided for you. Contact Admissions & Records at 276-964-7238 or admissions@sw.edu and provide the error number to resolve your transaction. Some students/classes may require enrollment permission or prerequisite(s).
