Pat Bussard

Pat Bussard is the Coordinator of Public Relations. She has worked at the college since 1987. Prior to coming to Southwest, she worked as a newspaper and radio reporter and in public relations. She has taught journalism classes and has presented at conferences on topics relating to communication. She has also authored articles on Pat Bussardthe topics of marketing and communication. She has earned a Master of Science degree in Occupational/Technical Education with an emphasis in Communication from Old Dominion University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration, concentration in Marketing, minor in Journalism, and an Associate in Arts in Administrative Science degree from Glenville State College. She manages a broad marketing and communication mix at Southwest to coordinate the branding of the institution, shape opinion, reduce dissonance, make contacts, open channels of communication and facilitate understanding of Southwest, its purpose, goals, programs, services and people.

About Our Graphic Identity

The logo for Southwest Virginia Community College allows us to communicate a strong, cohesive image of Southwest as a dynamic yet reliable institution of higher education. The graphic identity guidelines outlined in this publication apply to all Southwest Virginia Community College divisions, departments and off-campus operations and are inclusive of both print and web media.


The expectation is that college employees will identify all letterheads, envelopes, business cards, forms, etc. with the same logo.

Please follow the guidelines about its usage. If you have specific questions, please direct them to the Office of Public Relations.

The College’s slogan is an integral part of its graphic identity. Consistent use of the slogan throughout the institution serves to build a core identifier to complement the official logo.
