Over 50 ready-to-make meals were given to students of Southwest Virginia Community College.
Every year, Southwest Virginia Community College hosts a Thanksgiving meal on campus where around 400 students and employees of the college join together for the standard holiday fare of turkey, stuffing, as well as a variety of desserts. This year is very different since state mandates prevent large gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The spirits of students or staff of Southwest were not hampered. The Student Government Association, Student Services department, and Food for Thought (the on-campus food pantry) – along with other departments on campus – joined together to make Thanksgiving happen.Donations of time, money, and food came together as “Thanksgiving Dine n Dash” where students could register to pick up a ready-to-cook Thanksgiving meal. Included in the bags were a frozen turkey, dinner rolls, canned vegetables, stuffing mix, potatoes, gravy, mac-n-cheese, and brownie mix.Thank you to everyone who helped make this a success and Southwest Virginia Community College would like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving!
