Dr. Ron E. Proffitt, this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and former president of Virginia Highlands Community College, served as the guest speaker. Proffitt previously held the position of Interim Vice President of Instruction and Student Services at Southwest.

Student Government Association president Emma Denver and Virginia Community College System state board member Jeff Haley also addressed the graduates and guests. The celebration continued with an after-party on campus, complete with food, music, and a firepit area, providing a festive atmosphere to honor the students’ accomplishments.
