Workforce Development Services Offers Financial Assistance for Classes Leading to Credentials
Workforce Credentials Financial Assistance
SWCC’s Workforce Development Services offers financial assistance for classes leading to credentials. The Workforce Credential Grant (WCG) is designed to ensure that workforce credentials are accessible and affordable for Virginians seeking the skills they need to obtain good-paying jobs in high-demand fields. SWCC students who qualify for WCG will only have to pay 1/3 the total cost of the class.
In addition to the WCG, students may be eligible for Financial Aid for Non-Credit Training Leading to Industry-Recognized Credentials (FANTIC) to help with the remaining 1/3 tuition cost of classes that lead to a credential or licensure. FANTIC provides funding for students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in an approved non-credit workforce training program leading to the attainment of an industry-recognized credential or licensure. Visit the Workforce website for more information.
Some examples of programs that are eligible for FANTIC are Commercial Driver’s License, CompTIA classes, Carpentry, Masonry, Contractor’s licensure and other additional certification programs. Visit the Workforce Training and Continuing Education registration website for more information on non-credit classes being offered.
