David Mullins and family recently endowed a $15,000 educational scholarship in honor of his mother Dr. Susie Mullins. Dr. Susie Mullins has been a long-time educator and is currently an employee of Southwest Virginia Community College where she serves as a Professor and Counselor in the Student Services department, and also serves as the college’s Chief Transfer Officer. She has served in many different capacities in education both in K through 12 and at SWCC.

The Dr. Susie Mullins “World’s Greatest Mom” Educational Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who plans to attend SWCC after graduating from a high school in the service region. Qualifying students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher and write an essay about what their mother means to them.

“My brother and I hit the jackpot having Dr. Susie Mullins as our mother. She is not only the world’s greatest mother, but she also gave us a great foundation of education and support throughout our childhoods that continue to this day. We could never repay her, but we wanted to establish this scholarship in her honor as a small way to show our appreciation and to allow future students to experience the same love and kindness she has shown so many.” said David Mullins of the David Mullins Wealth Management Group.

Executive Director of the SWCC Educational Foundation, Susan R. Lowe, says “We are both humbled and pleased that David Mullins and his family made the important decision to endow a scholarship in honor of Dr. Susie Mullins to assist students who attend SWCC. By endowing this scholarship, their vision and generosity will serve students who have a financial need for decades to come.”
