If you have a passion for healthcare, an exciting opportunity awaits you at Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC). The nursing program at SWCC is moving forward under a new name, the Southwest Virginia Community College Nursing Program. The program previously operated under the Virginia Appalachian Tricollege Nursing Program (VATNP) but has now separated into its own program to better serve the needs of our community.
The program will continue to be approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). ACEN is officially recognized as the national accrediting agency for nursing education by the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation (COPA) and by the U.S. Department of Education.
As we enter our next chapter, we are committed to maintaining our reputation for excellence in nursing education and will continue our strong tradition of preparing competent, professional, and clinically proficient associate degree nursing graduates.
Combined, the faculty in the SWCC nursing program have over 100 years’ experience in nursing practice and over 50 years in teaching in the academic setting. Each faculty member brings a variety of experiences and talents throughout specialties such as oncology, hospice, medical-surgical nursing, community-based nursing, obstetrics, intensive care, surgical services, mental health, and nurse practitioner services. With a 100% job placement rate and the nation’s current need for frontline nurses, the SWCC Nursing Program is a great way to obtain a secure job in healthcare. We look forward to helping you achieve your goals and setting you on your path to your dream job! Contact a nursing advisor today for more information.
