CEDAR BLUFF, VA — Southwest Virginia Community College’s Small Business Development Center (Southwest SBDC) and the Virginia SBDC International Business Development (IBD) program invite Southwest Virginia Community College students to participate in a free virtual NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) Bootcamp this August.

The CGBP certification demonstrates to employers, future employers, and the public a proficiency in global business and the ability to work with a high level of expertise and professionalism necessary in today’s competitive environment. Until recently, the International Business Development program at the Virginia SBDC- George Mason University has only offered this course to Virginia companies, trade service providers, other global business stakeholders, and GMU students.

This summer, the IBD program will offer the CGBP Student Bootcamp to students enrolled at SBDC host institutions across the Commonwealth, including Southwest Virginia Community College, as well as students enrolled at Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Virginia.

The virtual program will run from August 16-August 20 and meet for three hours each day, from 10 AM until 2 PM, with a break from noon to 1 PM for lunch. In addition to instructors from the International Business Development team, real-world experts will also conduct sessions and lend their experience to the program. Students participating in the Bootcamp will also receive complimentary access to the NASBITE’s CGBP Student Pathway Program.

Currently enrolled Southwest Virginia Community College students who have completed at least one business class are eligible to apply for the Bootcamp. Participating students will also have an opportunity to apply for a paid, virtual, semester/year-long internship with the Virginia SBDC IBD program. Interested students can apply by completing the application and submitting a resume to international@virginiasbdc.org. The deadline for applications is July 23, 2021. Accepted students will be notified on July 27, 2021. Contact Aaron Miller, Director, International Business Development at amille2@gmu.edu with any questions.
