NASA Visiting Southwest

Representatives from NASA will be visiting Southwest Virginia Community College for an event aimed at community college students interested in exploring various career opportunities with the Nation’s space agency. The event will take place September 11, 2023.

Location:

King Community Center

Mary W. Lawson Auditorium

11am-1pm

Monday September 11, 2023

The session will provide an in-depth look at NASA’s career pathways, including the journey from community college to working at NASA’s Virginia location.

While at Southwest, NASA representatives will expand on the wide variety of roles available, extending beyond traditional science and engineering roles. Internship positions are available at NASA’s Langley location and online. Internship pathways cover a wide range of fields, including science, business, robotics, IT, engineering, accounting, art, and more.

The informational session will offer details about pathways and programs, featuring individuals who began their careers at NASA through these opportunities while attending community college. Attendees will also learn about entry-level positions at NASA and the organization’s remote work options.

The first hour of the event will consist of informational content, followed by a 45-minute Q&A session. Questions will be encouraged from the students and audience. Faculty from Southwest will attend, making connections with NASA representatives to serve as a resource for expertise in physics, science, math, and related fields.
