Laptops for Veterans

Veterans Upward Bound receives laptops.

Representatives from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) were at Southwest Virginia Community College on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, to distribute 20 laptops to veteran students and their spouses. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance veteran access to digital resources across the Commonwealth.

This distribution event was made possible through a partnership between the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and Tech for Troops; a veteran-run organization that provides veterans with the technological tools for success.

The laptops provided are tools for academic work and a comprehensive support package, including technical support and warranties, at no cost to the veterans. Officials from the DVS say they hope this can continue to grow over the coming years.

Veterans Upward Bound at Southwest Virginia Community College is funded through the United States Department of Education as part of the TRIO grant programs. The program’s mission is to assist eligible veterans in achieving their educational and career goals.
