The Small Business Development Center at Southwest Virginia Community College assists local businesses with business plans, finding start-up funding sources, marketing, and more. Their clients are regularly featured in VCEDA, SBDC, and Virginia Business publications. As of late, the SBDC had 8 clients receive the VCEDA Seed Capital Grant.
Founded by Pat and Jerry Skeens, this semi-permanent food truck is located in Grundy, Virginia at Southern Gap. It aims to feed not only tourists taking advantage of the recreational opportunities, but also the locals who live and work there.
“The Southwest Virginia Community College Small Business Development Center is proud to have partnered with Just Breakin’ Bread,” said Denise Harmon, director of the SBDC at SWCC. “We’re proud to support Pat, Jerry and Jonathan in bringing fresh, homestyle meals to Southern Gap. Their commitment to quality and community is exactly what our region needs.”

Founded by Andrew Morris, Ardent construction, based in North Tazewell, is focused on providing home improvement services in the local area.
“Ardent delivers high-quality construction service — focused on both standard infrastructure projects and ADA compliant improvements,” said Denise Harmon, director of the Southwest Virginia Community College SBDC. “It’s rewarding to partner with companies like Ardent that are not only creating local jobs but are also building a stronger foundation for our communities.”
