33rd Annual Scholarship Golf Classic Recap

The Southwest Virginia Community College Educational Foundation hosted the 33rd Annual Scholarship Golf Classic on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Tazewell County Country Club. Thanks to generous sponsors and players, over $12,000 was raised this year to support students at the college. 

The long-standing tradition benefits students at the college by helping them offset tuition fees and essential costs like books and class materials.

The tournament this year was played in honor of Bill Akers. Bill dedicated over forty years to serving others, starting as a chemistry teacher and later becoming a key figure in EMS education in Southwest Virginia. As training coordinator and program director, he expanded access to emergency medical training, mentoring multiple programs and serving on committees to improve EMS education statewide.
