The Small Business Development Center at Southwest Virginia Community College assists local businesses with business plans, finding start-up funding sources, marketing, and more. Their clients are regularly featured in VCEDA, SBDC, and Virginia Business publications. As of late, the SBDC had 8 clients receive the VCEDA Seed Capital Grant.
Founded by Judson Hill, River Hill Farms works to build a fishing lodge and fishing guide service on 65 acres which fronts a one-mile stretch of pristine waters teeming with wild rainbow and brown trout located along Big Cedar Creek in Lebanon, Virginia.
“River Hill Farms enhances the area’s recreational opportunities,” said Denise Harmon, director of the SBDC at SWCC. “We wish Judson Hill and River Hill Farms every success as they bring this exceptional fishing destination to life — delivering community impact, sustainable tourism and lifetime memories for anglers in Southwestern Virginia.”

Founded by Sarah and Jonathan Romeo, Painted Mountain Riverbend Retreat aims to bring people together to make unforgettable memories in the great outdoors. This special events and luxury camping venue is set to open next summer in Tazewell County.
“Painted Mountain Riverbend Retreat will offer truly a unique experience,” said Denise Harmon, director of the SWCC SBDC. “We are proud to have assisted and supported this venture through the VCEDA Seed Capital Grant process. The retreat will showcase the region’s natural beauty and potential.”
