Southwest Virginia Community College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program. This is the third year that Southwest has been recognized on the Great Colleges to Work For list.
The results, released in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 199 colleges and universities. In all, 76 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.
Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with Southwest Virginia Community College included among the small colleges.
Southwest Virginia Community College won honors in 2 categories this year:
“As someone who’s recently joined Southwest, I’ve been continually inspired by the dedication and pride our faculty and staff bring to their work each day,” said Dr. Clint Hayes, President of Southwest Virginia Community College. “This recognition reinforces what I’ve already seen firsthand—Southwest truly is a great place to work, to learn, and to serve our community.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.
The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country.
