CEDAR BLUFF, VA – On April 5, Southwest Virginia Community College will begin a campus-wide diversity climate study. We have contracted with an outside vendor, Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys, LLC to administer the surveys. The surveys will be online and will be accessible for those who need accommodations.
Understanding our college’s climate is an important step toward ensuring our institution’s future success and that of all of our students and employees. As we continue to grow, diversity and inclusion has become an increasingly integral focal point for Southwest Virginia Community College. As part of our six-year strategic plan, Opportunity 2027, taking the pulse of our successes to date is key to learning where we may need to do more work to strengthen our ongoing policies and initiatives.
At Southwest Virginia Community College, we seek to continue to provide a diverse and inclusive working environment where all employees and students can be fully engaged, feel safe and respected, and be able to thrive. The survey results will be used to identify strengths and opportunities related to diversity, equity and inclusion for employees and students. All employees and students, with the exception of dual enrollments students, are strongly encouraged to complete the survey which will be online from April 5 through April 23. No personal identifying information will be collected from anyone taking the survey. Only aggregated results will be shared with college leadership.
Current students and employees will be receiving an anonymous link that goes directly to Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys’ invitation to participate in the survey. Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys, LLC is a sister company to Potomac Publishing, Inc., publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and most well-regarded diversity and inclusion magazine in higher education today.
This survey initiative is being supported in part by the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education and the Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Foundation.
