Upon successful completion, graduates will have earned and obtained the necessary knowledge to pursue the career of a certified Diesel Repair Mechanic Technician within the in-demand diesel industry.

Hands-on training and state of the art tools and equipment. Gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals in these areas:

  • Torque
  • HD Diagnostics
  • Battery Starting & Charging
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • PMI (Precision Measurement Instruments)

ASE® Certifications

Medium/Heavy Trucks Entry Level

  • The project-based, experiential curriculum provides coverage of:
  • Brakes
  • Diesel Engines
  • Electrical/Electronic Systems
  • Inspection Maintenance & Minor Repair
  • Suspension&Steering

Students will work through real-world situations to implement solutions in an experiential learning environment.

AWS® Shielded Metal Arc Welding Certification

Earn nationally recognized credentials through our American Welding Society Accredited Testing Facility. The shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process uses high welding speed and can be done out of doors and in windy environments, making this weld type favorable for mechanics. Certified welder tests developed by welding trade authorities provide a definitive series of procedures that specify how to execute welds correctly. The welding credentials you will earn at Southwest’s AWS ATF are nationally recognized and can benefit your salary increase and employment prospects.

CDL Certification

Earn Commercial Driver’s License. Utilizing a mix of classroom, simulation, and on-the-road training, graduates of this program will obtain the knowledge and skills required to become a CDL Class A licensed driver.
