The Department of Science and Mathematics serves students by providing quality science and math classes needed for pre-medical programs and admission tests. The Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree with a major in Science, Specialization: Pre-Medical catalog (button below) lists classes needed for your degree, but courses can be tailored to the specific prerequisites of your chosen pre-medical interest.
There are multiple paths for students pursuing a medical degree. We have transfer agreements with many different colleges and universities, including several special agreements with schools offering optometry, pharmacy, and more.

Most pre-medical students will transfer to senior institutions for completion of a Bachelor of Science degree. A Bachelor of Science degree is not required for pharmacy schools or the Kentucky College of Optometry at the University of Pikeville.
Professional schools do not recommend any one major at the four-year schools. They strongly recommend that students enroll in a degree program of their choice to prepare for alternate career goals.
